The palaces & stupa at Kapilavastu, near the Indo-Nepal border, mark the home of Prince Siddhartha.

3 palaces were built by Siddhartha's father, the King of the Sakya tribe, for the newly married prince. He lived here for 27 years before leaving on his journey seeking Enlightenment.

After The Buddha's death, His disciples brought a portion of his ashes and some holy objects or relics and buried it inside the stupa.
